A Light Never Goes Out in New Brunswick

Saturday February 23, I hosted a reading for my Smiths biography at the brand new Barnes & Noble in New Brunswick, New Jersey. As with most of my other readings, I invited some friends down to play Smiths songs, demonstrating the band’s enduring legacy. (On a show of hands, at least half the audience in New Brunswick were born after The Smiths broke up.) Jeff Hack and Link, who I knew back in the early 90s as members of a band called Room Eleven, worked up three famed Morrissey-Marr compositions and delivered each of them impeccably. The entire event was a success, but it was all the better for the good music. View their performances below.
