There were ‘flight’ cases lined up against the far wall, and people watching the show from on top of them. I hung about hopefully, bouncing up and down, partly pogoing but also as a hint, and eventually one of the bigger kids leaned down and held out his arms to pull me up. Up there I could see the world – or, at least, all of the stage and the entire crowd, which was all that mattered to me at that moment in time… The Jam at the Marquee was everything I’d ever hoped for from a gig.
