During our first year at Tenison’s, Chris took up the drums. It was the ideal instrument for his physique, and it turned out he had a natural sense of rhythm. Chris was into soul and reggae, black music mainly, but he played like a rocker, our very own Keith Moon. He would frequently spend lunchtimes in one of the music practice rooms, pounding away on a school kit that, judging by the crowds of fourth and fifth years who gathered in the hallway to watch, had never taken such a beating in its life.
