A pair of bald eagles have been nesting by the Ashokan Reservoir since January. You can usually see the nest by asking the small crowds of amateur bird-watchers with long distance telescopes and cameras that gather where Reservoir Road reaches the south side of the Reservoir. My wife Posie was out walking with the kids there on February 21 when they saw one of the eagles flying back to its nest. She thought she missed the bird with the camera but caught it just in the corner of her lens. I think the picture is all the better for it. If you look closely you can see a twig for the nest in its claws.
