ON THE SUBJECT OF JUNE 21st

…Then yesterday must have been the 20th Anniversary of The Longest Day, when U2 headlined Milton Keynes Bowl. Faith Brothers, whom I was managing at the time, were the opening act. R.E.M. were also on the bill, though they shouldn’t have been. I believe The Ramones were part of the line-up too. It rained from the end of Faith Brothers’ set rightup until U2 hotwired God and played The Beatles‘ ‘Rain.’ (True.) Anyone remember the other two acts that day? I have a feeling one of them was Spear of Destiny and the other one was most mainstream. Faith Brothers honcho Billy Franks is still active; his web site is here. The Ramones are remembered at iJamming! here. R.E.M.arks Remade explained here. (Their show in Manchester last Friday reviewed here.) And my Jamming! mag U2 interview from the same era is archived here. Enjoy.
