Radio 4 Updates
It’s Friday afternoon, and while I generally keep these work issues separate, I figured I might as well share a major Radio 4 news update with iJamming! readers, the same time as it gets posted on the group’s own web sites. Here goes:
This past Tuesday August 8, Radio 4 played its last NYC area show for a while, a one-off Krock2.com night at Crash Mansion. Thanks to everyone at the station, especially Domestic Disturbance DJs Christian and Dubin for a fun night.
The group is now in Europe, where it will be playing the following shows over the next week:
Saturday August 12, France, St. Malo, La Route du Rock
Monday August 14, France, Aulnoye-Aymeries, Les Nuits Secrettes
Wednesday August 16, UK, Liverpool Carling Academy
Thursday August 17, UK, Nottingham, Stealth
Friday August 18, UK, London, Fabric
Saturday August 19, Spain, Sonorama Festival
The group will be returning to Europe later in September for more shows. We expect to announce these dates next week.
American Remix CD and 12”:
August 22 sees the release of a five-song Enemies Like This remix CD in the USA. The full track listing is:
1) IDC Remix
2) Culture Cheat Remix
3) Hot Chip Remix
4) Small Sins Remix
5) Album version
The CD is available for pre-order at amazon.com here, and will be available via iTunes and other digital services.
There is also a promo-only 12” which features the IDC, Hot Chip and Small Sins remixes.
New UK single and B-sides:
EMI UK will be releasing ‘Packing Things Up On The Scene’ as a single in October. Bonus tracks will include two brand new songs, ‘Take Anything’ and ‘Pretty Good Lie,’ recorded in July at Brotherstudio in Brooklyn. Everyone is really excited about these songs, which reveal something of a new sound for the group.
The UK single will also feature remixes of Packing Things Up On The Scene by Tim Goldsworthy of The Loving Hand/DFA.
New Roman Vocal:
Radio 4’s Anthony Roman is a featured vocalist on the new album by X-Press 2, Makeshift Feelgood, to be released in the UK on September 26. He sings the track ‘17’. More info at the X-Press 2 web site here.
New old Radio 4 radio sessions:
Radio 4’s June 20 live session on KEXP Seattle, has been archived for online streaming here. The session features full band performances of Enemies Like This, Grass Is Greener, This Is Not A Test and Too Much To Ask For, and a live, on-air interview with host Kevin Cole. Click on the ‘interview’ stream to hear the whole 25-minute session.
Radio 4’s June 26 live acoustic session for Cincinnati station WOXY – one of their best – features Enemies Like This, Grass Is Greener and Absolute Affirmation, and a fun rapport with host Barb Abney. You can download the whole session as an MP3 here.
