Rhône Ranges

If you know the first thing about me and wine, it’s that I’m a Rhône fan – and that very much includes the ever expanding group of Californian producers who favor Rhône varietals over the more familiar French-born ‘noble’ grapes and have become know, along the way, as Rhône Rangers for their efforts. Yesterday I plugged Grape Radio, with its Podcast series about California’s Rhône producers; no sooner had I done so than I saw that the Wine Lovers Page web site, which resides among my permanent list of recommendations, has made ‘Rhone Varieties in the USA‘ the subject of its monthly online Wine Tasting Class. Click here for an excellent tutorial by Tom Hill on the different Rhône grapes being grown in America. And then visit this forum to see people like you and me – enthusiastic ameteurs – offering tasting notes on such wines as the Cline Red Truck White, a wine I myself have enthused about here.
