The iJamming! Weekly Download: The Mobius Band
Is it too late to send a Valentine’s?
The Mobius Band are the latest indie act to give away an EP’s worth of cover versions online, and even if you’ve never heard of them before, their choice of material should send you straight to the web site to check it out. Fans of music first, genres last, the New York band have offered up Valentine’s Day versions of love songs by Bob Dylan and Neil Young, Daniel Johnston and the National, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone and… Daft Punk. The renditions are really quite special; the electro cover of Dylan’s “I’ll Keep It With Mine” is more interesting than just about anything on the I’m Not There soundtrack, while their re-interpretation of Daft Punk’s “Digital Love” makes the French disco super stars sound something like humans. You can find more music by the Mobius Band here. And if you live in the UK, you can see them on tour with the Editors this very weekend.
