The Who Re-Viewed Part 1
LOVE IS THE DRUG
Whether you want to call it an addiction or a life-long affair, the result is still the same. I can exist perfectly well without the ongoing existence of The Who. The depth of the back catalogue, and the knowledge of what they meant at their prime, is enough to satiate me for life. But when they’re placed in front of me, it’s hard to resist the temptation, which is why I’ve found myself in the audience for Who concert comebacks, on and off, ever since 1979, experiencing various highs and lows along the way. That’s bad enough. Now there’s a new studio album after 24 years, and a tour on which The Who actually play new songs. This band has been too much part of my life for me not to succumb to the magnetic pull. Let me hope they’re still capable of delivering a high.
