TONY talks to Tony
There’s a very nice Q&A in Time Out New York online with yours truly about my book. It was posted yesterday under their section Last Minute Plan as promotion for my talk at the 92Y Tribeca – and went online six minutes before the talk commenced! Unless you were standing at the corner of Canal and Hudson staring at the TONY web site hoping for inspiration, it probably arrived too late, but fear not: despite my worst fears of a daytime “talk” (do not use the word “lecture”) with a $16 ticket price in the middle of winter in a recession, it was very well attended. I had a lot of fun; I hope the audience did too. I showed pictures and newspaper clips, played some music and prattled on for over an hour. It was also filmed (as ever, by Joly at Punkcast.com), and should be up on YouTube in a week or so.
When Chris from Time Out conducted the interview by phone, the week before Christmas, he was a little late calling me and immediately apologized. lt turned out that Ari Up from the Slits had come by the office to do a little Christmas striptease, an event that was duly filmed and can be accessed at the Time Out site here:
I would love to have been in the office. Thanks for forwarding the link, Chris.
And thanks too, to the Onion for such a nice write-up yesterday. I came across it on the bus back upstate. It was a good day all round.
