Top Ten Singles of 2013
FWIW, my Top 10 Singles of the Year, as entered into the annual Village Voice poll. I have more fun putting together this list than the Top 10 Albums; it’s not as if the act in question has to have a catalogue behind them, or for their related album to be equally as good. In fact, in most of these instances, the listed Single is the only song I’ve heard from the accompanying album. WIth a couple others, I loved the album, but not quite enough to make that Top 10 list.
Though this is not in order of preference, and no points are given, I put the Petula Clark single ‘Cut Copy Me’ up top. It was one of the hippest, trippiest songs I heard all year. That it came from the voice of an 80-year old was just astonishing. Check it out at the bottom of the post.
